Team Meeting Applause

Stronger systems of care, for the teens you serve and the staff who serve them.

We help schools, nonprofits, and agencies build validating ecologies: cultures of care where staff stay, teams connect, and young people are truly understood. Through training, consultation, and keynote speaking, grounded in Dr. Robin Barre's almost 30 years in classrooms, agencies, and clinical work.

Teams that feel cared for do better work with teens.

The people who serve adolescents are some of the most dedicated I know. But commitment alone cannot hold up against the conditions many teams are working in. Sound familiar?

  • Burnout from constant emotional labor and high-stress environments

  • Disconnection between staff, students, and leadership

  • Reactive systems that leave no room for repair or reflection

  • Turnover from overwhelmed teams and under-supported people

  • A culture of urgency that erodes the trauma-informed values you set out to live

This does not mean your team is failing. It means the system around them needs tending, and that can be built.

A different lens, built from decades inside these systems.

Our approach begins with a simple principle: behavior is communication. When a young person acts out, something important usually sits underneath it, and the same holds true for the adults and teams around them. A single workshop can be a powerful beginning. Lasting change grows when that understanding becomes part of the culture, when staff learn to stay regulated, to meet hard moments with compassionate curiosity, and to trust that ruptures can be repaired. That is what building a validating ecology means: an environment where the work to understand is the norm, for young people and for the people who serve them.

What sets this work apart is where it comes from. Dr. Barre has spent nearly 30 years inside these systems, as a teacher, an education director for street-involved youth, and a school-based counselor coordinating care across families, schools, the courts, and community agencies. She pairs that firsthand experience with Internal Family Systems and depth psychology to help organizations move from intervention to connection, in a way that protects staff from burnout and reconnects them to the reason they started.

"Because of her expertise in both the workings of the public school system and the needs of high-risk youth, I highly recommend Robin as a trainer and consultant to help administrators and staff better serve their students."

Cindy Nash | Former Seattle Public Schools administrator

"Robin has amazing skill in helping parents and professionals to see under sometimes confounding behavior to the needs, emotions, and tremendous gifts just beneath the surface."

Arah Gould, LPC

“Dr Barre does an excellent job of teaching a person the importance of taking care of themselves so they can then be efficient in their work role. This was not starting with the bandage, this was actually addressing the wound (our own needs) and working from there.
